Description
Idoxuridine (NSC 39661, SKF 14287,5-Iodo-2′-deoxyuridine,5-IUdR,IdUrd) is an antiviral agent for feline herpesvirus type-1 with IC50 of 4.3 μM.

In vitro
Idoxuridine is a nucleoside analogue, a modified form of deoxyuridine, similar enough to be incorporated into viral DNA replication, but the iodine atom added to the uracil component blocks base pairing.Idoxuridine is used for topical treatment of herpetic eye infections due to herpes simplex virus (HSV).
