Description
Harringtonine is a natural cephalotaxine alkaloid that inhibits protein biosynthesis. It also exhibits antiviral and anticancer activities.
In vitro
Harringtonine, a cephalotaxine alkaloid, inhibits an early stage of the chikungunya virus (CHIKV) replication cycle which occurs after viral entry into cells and affects CHIKV RNA production as well as viral protein expression, also inhibits other alphaviruses.[1]
